ALS, 1952 January 8 : Paris, to Mr. Adriani.

Toklas thanks Mr. Adriani for his wife's portrait of Harriet [a friend of both Toklas and Gertrude Stein]. She says that she has sent it to "Yale University Library with other drawings and paintings to become part ... of the Gertrude Stein collection. I like it in every way better than the drawing by Matisse." She continues, "Doctor Rosenthal is going to translate Gertrude's play ... The winter ... is dark and dismal ... The poor poodle suffers dreadfully from arthritis and is no longer gay."
